Daint Dackolas (Saint Dackolas, Daint Dahklas, Daint Dacklaus, or Santa Claws, depending on region) is a prominent figure in Daerthian folklore.
The myth is though to have originated in Davaramony with a Dave who was likely real, named Davakh Dacklaus, who was documented as being a teacher and a well-versed man of religion, although which one is heavily debated.
He was documented as an old man who would visit daves known to be greedy or cold-hearted and imbue them with a new lustre for life. Many of these tales have been exaggerated over time, however historians have been able to recover a handful of the original accounts, such as the story of Old Man Davenkrank.
After his death, Davakh Dacklaus' legacy was well known through western Davoupe; passing through Drance as Saint Dackolas, Dvaen as Daint Dahklas, The UD as Daint Dackolas and the Davinavian nation's as multiple different incarnations. At this time, the stories of his teachings were exacerbated to the point of legend, as can be seen in the many retellings of Davrus' sad end.
The Davoupians brought his legend with them to DAVE TOWN, where it mingled with the pre-existing culture, eventually emerging as Santa Claws — a dave who brings letters to sinful daves, warning them to improve, lest he utilise his dread talons.
