The DT Class 460 is a diesel passenger locomotive that was in service from 19,895 until 20,000, but is expected to re-enter service later in 20,001.
Prior to Service
The DT 460 series were developed in Vehtle by Dranciosa Ltd. The trains were ordered in 19,890 by the failed Goose Town based Open-Access operator, GooseLink, but due to financial issues, GooseLink never begun services.
The trains were built from 19,890 to 19,893, but GooseLink's bankruptcy left them sitting idle in Dranciosa's many warehouses across Dave Town. Only a year later, the state owned rail franchise Dave National Connnection purchased half of the units, with the rest being scrapped in 19,900.
The DT 460s were painted in the Regional Connect livery of the time, and after a year long testing process, they finally entered service, operating services to and from Dackenham Central
In Service
The DT 460s entered service in 19,895, providing long distance commuter services usually starting or ending at the dave town terminus of Dackenham Central.
In 19,912, a third of the units exited service temporarily, and returned as 460/1s which had been fitted with pantographs. This helped to achieve higher speeds and slash journey times on the electrified stretch from Dahn-Vashton to Davvas City.
Dave National Connection received backlash in 19,933 after severe heat in Dave Town left passengers onboard their services ill. Due to this, DNC announced they would be installing air conditioning on all of their stock, and refurbishing some. The DT460s were one of the few chosen to be refurbished, but this was the final nail in the coffin for the few remaing class 450s. DNC decided it would be expensive, and a waste of money to install air conditioning the aging DT450s, let alone refurbish them. This led to their withdrawal date being put forward, and the last 450s exited service permanently in 19,934.
After the refurbishment of the DT 460s, they began work on longer routes, such as Dackenham Central to Davelo via Dahn-Vashton.
The class 460s continued to provide regular services for DNC, but were slowly taken off longer routes, as newer DT Class 600 High-Speed trains began to enter service in 19,990.
When the new DT 600 series had been fully rolled out, some of the class 460s started to be withdrawn, with the remaining units carrying out the shortest of the DNC Regional Connect routes.
In 20,000, the last DT600 entered service, which spelt the end for the class 460s. 460001 was fittingly the first unit to enter service, on the 21st of Davtember 19,895, and the last unit to exit service, on the 5th of Davuary, 20,000.
After exiting Service
The remaining DT460s weren't scrapped, with the heritage group, DaveTownRailways purchasing and storing two, the rest were held in storage, until the open-access operator Daughalands Local Railway purchased the remainder of Dranciosa Ltd.'s stock. These units are expected to enter service at some point in 20,001.
