A simple topographical map of Darlee Island.

Darlee Island is a small island in the Davedom Channel, located off the coast of the UD. It lies approximately 450 km from Davvarde Point and has been historically significant due to its role in exploration and territorial conflicts.

First charted in 8,823 during the expedition of Dolvidde Darlee, the island became the subject of disputes between Davada, Goose Town, Dvaen, and Drance. A joint military presence was established, but control remained unstable until 10,001 where the island was split between Goose Town, Davada and Drance.

Today, Darlee Island remains sparsely populated, with 21,802 residents in the Goose Town sector. Its capital and largest settlement is Port Vale.

Discovery

Darlee Island was first encountered in the year 8,823 by multiple exploratory groups from various nations, consisting of: Davada, Goose Town, Drance and Dvaen. The first known landing was made by Dolvidde Darlee, an explorer from Davico who was reportedly killed soon after by competing explorers. The island’s discovery led to immediate territorial disputes, with each faction attempting to establish dominance over its resources and strategic location.

Joint Military Presence and Governance

Following the initial conflicts over Darlee Island, a joint military presence was established in 8,830 to maintain control and oversee territorial claims. Forces from Goose Town, Davada, Dvaen, and Drance were stationed on the island, each maintaining separate outposts and frequently engaging in territorial skirmishes throughout the seven years before the joint military presence was achieved.

Dvaen Withdrawal

Dvaen's presence on the island came to an abrupt end in 8,828, when the reigning leader, King Valaadas III, who was only seven years old at the time, became frustrated with his forces’ repeated losses in the ongoing skirmishes. Annoyed by the situation, he eventually ceased sending replacements, leading to the complete withdrawal of Dvaen's troops by 8,829. Their departure created a power vacuum, with their former holdings quickly divided between the remaining factions.

Dave Town Governance

With Davada, Goose Town, and Drance still maintaining a presence on the island, Dave Town sought to establish administrative oversight by appointing Davarle Vebas as governor in 8,861. However, his tenure, which lasted until 9,272, was widely regarded as ineffective. Contemporary accounts describe Vebas as largely indifferent to the island’s affairs, making no significant policy changes or infrastructural improvements.

Historical records suggest that he spent most of his time residing in his Port Vale residence on the island, rarely intervening in territorial disputes or military operations. Some sources claim that his appointment was a mere formality, with real control remaining in the hands of Davada, Goose Town, and Drance.
